Ramboll has signed a major contract with the city of Umeå in northern Sweden for extension of their waste water treatment plant from 115,000 to 200,000 connected persons. The project includes process design of the treatment plant, EIA and permit applications, with an option for detailed design of the extended plant. The treatment plant is based on the traditional activated sludge process with tertiary treatment (nitrogen removal).
We were selected for this project in toughest national competition. The Ramboll tender got the highest score in evaluation of competence, project references and project description.
The project started in December 2009 and will run throughout 2010 and 2011. The project volume for process engineering, preliminary design and EIA is estimated to 4,000 hours in 2010. Consultants for detailed design of civil works, structures, electrical engineering and SCADA will be tendered separately during late 2010.
